The House at Pooh Corner (Signed limited edition)
London: Methuen & Co., Ltd., 1928. First edition. Number 121 of 350 copies, signed by both the author and illustrator. A Fine copy of the book in Very Good+ dust jacket. Book with minor offsetting to the end papers (as usual), otherwise a lovely copy over. Leave remain unopened from start to finish. Dust jacket with minor rubbing and wear at the spine ends, spine panel a bit toned, otherwise a pretty handsome copy overall. Housed in a slightly oversized custom slipcase with chemise.
The second of Milne's Winnie the Pooh books, The House at Pooh Corner was particularly notable for the introduction of the beloved character Tigger. As Pooh and Piglet work on building a house for Eeyore and search for a new home for Owl after a storm destroys his, the neighborhood is disrupted by two major events: the arrival of the energetic Tigger, and the departure of Christopher Robin, who has come of age to leave for school. Optimistic and nostalgic, the book ends with the unforgettable image: "Wherever they go, and whatever happens to them on the way, in that enchanted place at the top of the Forest, a little boy and his Bear will always be playing." Fine in Very Good + dust jacket. (Item #8285)
