A scarce work on Singapore, with British and American missionary work in the region providing the foundation upon which the work is set. The work is not restricted to just Singapore however, with early chapters devoted to Macao, Canton, Malacca, Hong Kong and the Malay States. The subjects covered are diverse, with one chapter on the Chinese Christian Association, one on Chinese guilds, clubs and temples, another on leper hospitals. Plates include a view of the bay of Macao, a group of Muar Christians, the Chinese Recreation Club and the Muar Mission Club.
