My Memoir is Edith Bolling Wilson's reflection on her role as First Lady between 1915 and 1921. Edith married President Woodrow Wilson midway through his first term in office and, by the time of her husband's stroke in 1919, had assumed an active role in the presidency – a role she describes in her memoir as "stewardship." Despite Edith's own modest description of her role, scholarly reappraisals of Wilson's second term have identified her as a driving force in many of Hoover's political decisions at the time.
