A Narrative of Two Voyages to Hudson's Bay, with Traditions of the North American Indians.

London: The Society For Promoting Christian Knowledge, 1847. First edition. Four engraved plates, one diagram and one chart. A Near Fine copy. Twelvemo. A little spotting internally with a faint partially erased inscription to title. Endpapers renewed. Bound in modern green full morocco with spine lettered and decorated in gilt.

Exceedingly scarce in commerce, with only one other copy appearing at auction in the last 50 years (The Siebert/Brooke-Hitching copy, also bound in modern morocco). It is missing from most of the bibliographies one would expect to find it.

Nevins was a surgeon with the Hudson's Bay Company, and made two voyages to Hudson's Bay in 1842-43. This work provides an interesting first-hand account of Chippawa, Cree, and Inuit life.
