Minimal wear to corners, text spotted, the hand colored plates bright and fresh.Collating [iv], iv, 216, pages with hand-colored half-title and seventy- nine fine hand-colored engraved plates of Butterflies and Moths. An excellent copy.

This work was first published in Paris by Pauquet, 1834-35. Pierre-Hippolyte Lucas (1814-1899) was a French entomologist and was an assistant-naturalist at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle. From 1839 to 1842 he studied fauna as part of the scientific Commission on the exploration of Algeria.
