Go Down Moses (Signed Limited Edition)

New York: Random House, 1942. First edition. One of 100 copies, signed by the author, his smallest limitation. A lovely, about Fine copy of the book with minor wear along the board edges (as usual) and faint tape ghosts on the end papers. Otherwise sharp and square and completely devoid of fading to the spine. Faulkner's spiritual work of seven inter-related stories forming a somewhat cohesive novel set in his fictitious Yoknapatawpha County. The novel takes up familiar themes of family, race relations and history.

With Danish-born actor Jean Hersholt's signed bookplate on the front paste-down. Hersholt performed in a total of 140 films, including “Flesh,” a 1932 film co-written by an uncredited William Faulkner. Hersholt is also known for his collection of Hans Christian Anderson books and his work translating them into English. From noted collector Clive Hirschhorn's library sale. Housed in a custom slipcase.
