(Item #6016) A Love Poem (Signed limited edition). Charles Bukowski.

A Love Poem (Signed limited edition)

Santa Barbara: Black Sparrow Press, 1979. First edition. Letter U of lettered edition, the most limited of the first editions, signed by the author on the title page. Book is Fine with offsetting from title page on verso of first flyleaf and first page of text, but with the rest of the interior extremely clean. In Fine chartreuse/light olive green paper jacket and Fine publisher's acetate. Bound in grey paper boards with silver cloth backstrip, cover printed with blue, magenta, and green bearing the text "A New Years Greeting from the Pack Sparrow Press 1979." Colophon matches text on numbered limited edition and lettered "U."

Containing only a single poem, this publication grants readers insight into the author's complicated feelings about his relationships with women throughout his life. Taking a nostalgic and abstracted view of his subject, Bukowski appears simultaneously introspective on and perpetually distant from past lovers.
