(Item #3018) Anthropology and Modern Life. Franz Boas.

Anthropology and Modern Life

New York: W. W. Norton, 1928. First edition. Original cloth with paper labels to spine and front board. Spine sunned; offsetting to front and rear boards, most obviously to the front label. Corners bumped. Contemporary gift inscription to the front endpaper and bookseller's ticket to rear pastedown, else clean and unmarked internally.

A very collectible treatise on race and culture by the Father of Anthropology. Boas was a staunch advocate for equality and sought to create a basic anthropology text that clarified language surrounding race and nationality, and which encouraged more open and informed exchange.
