A CLOCKWORK ORANGE

London: Heinemann, 1962. First Edition. Hardcover. First UK Edition (and correct first). In the first issue binding (black cloth) and first issue jacket (priced at 16s net, with wide flaps). A remarkable, Fine copy of the book without any foxing, age toning, or previous markings as are so common with this title. Gilt on spine is perfect and boards are straight and sharp. Wrapped in an extremely fresh, Near Fine dust jacket with a hint of toning to the spine, and two small closed tears, each less than half an inch. Dust jacket has also escaped from any type of foxing or spotting and has just a bit of toning along the flap edges. A classic of modern British literature, basis for the equally classic and brutal 1971 dystopian film directed by Stanley Kubrick and starring Malcolm McDowell. Quite scarce to find in such attractive, unrestored condition. Housed in a quarter-leather, custom clamshell case. Additional photos available upon request. Fine in Near Fine dust jacket.
