Paris: The Olympia Press, 1958. First edition. Very Good. Southern's erotic adaptation of Candide. First issue in green printed wraps with original price "1200 Francs" on rear cover, without later price overstamp. A Very Good copy with creasing and a small tear on the front cover, wear at the spine ends and along the fold. Internal contents clean, save for date, March 11, 1968, stamped on front end paper.
A notorious rarity and one of several important works first published by the Olympia Press due to obscenity concerns in the U.S., others include "Lolita" and "The Naked Lunch."
